Second Tenure of Neupane as CEO of NIC Asia

Roshan Kumar Neupane has been reappointed as the CEO of NIC Asia Bank Limited. A meeting of the board of directors of the bank on November 2 reappointed Neupane for the second term.

Neupane joined NIC Asia (then Bank of Asia) in March 2008 at the age of 28 as the Head of Internal Audit and Compliance. Later, he got elevated to the post of Chief Risk Officer in 2015, to Assistant CEO in May 2017 and to Acting CEO in March 2018 before reaching the bank’s helm as the CEO in December 2018. A Chartered Accountant, Neupane is credited for transforming NIC Asia from a mid-cap bank to the top five banks in the country.

Mishra Joins StanChart as Head of Financial Markets & Treasury Markets

Sarbendra Mishra has joined Standard Chartered Bank (Nepal) Limited as the Head of Financial Markets and Treasury Markets. Before joining Standard Chartered, he was the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at Sunrise Bank Limited where he also served as the company’s Director.

Mishra, who has 26 years of experience in the banking sector, started as an Officer at Nabil Bank Limited in 2006. In 2007, he joined Sunrise Bank as the Head of Finance and Treasury and worked as the Chief Operating Officer of Civil Bank Limited from September 2011 to October 2017. He joined Sunrise Bank as the CFO in October 2017.

Mishra is the former President of the Foreign Exchange and Money Dealers Association of Nepal (FEDAN) and is currently an active member of the Association for Finance Professionals. He holds a master’s degree in Multinational Corporate Finance from Tribhuvan University.

Duwadi Appointed DCEO of Samriddhi Finance 
Gokarna Prasad Duwadi has been appointed as the Deputy Chief Executive Officer (DCEO) of Samriddhi Finance Company Limited. Duwadi, who has more than 18 years of experience in the managerial role in the financial sector, previously worked as the Chief Manager at Neco Insurance Limited.

Rai Elected Chairman of Gurkhas Finance
Dekindra Kumar Rai has been elected as the Chairman of Gurkhas Finance Limited. He was nominated to the post following the resignation of Gaurav Budhathoki from the company’s Chairman.

Shrestha Reappointed Honorary Consul of Vietnam to Nepal
Rajesh Kazi Shrestha has been re-appointed as the Honorary Consul of Vietnam to Nepal. The Vietnamese Embassy in New Delhi, which is concurrently accredited to Nepal, handed over an appointment letter to Shrestha on October 31.

Shrestha Appointed CEO of CBIL Capital 
Sabir Bade Shrestha has been appointed as the CEO of CBIL Capital Limited. Prior to joining CBIL Capital, he was the CEO of Mega Capital Markets Limited. He has 17 years of experience working in the financial and merchant banking sector at home and abroad.

Shrestha worked as the Assistant Manager at the UK-based BDO LLP from February 2011 to March 2013. In October 2013, he joined NIBL Ace Capital Limited as the Head of Investment & Mutual Funds. He worked as the CEO of Nabil Investment Banking Limited from December 2017 to October 2020. Shrestha, who is an ACCA, holds an MBA degree from Kathmandu University.

Dahal Appointed DG of DRI
Madan Dahal has been appointed as the Director General of the Department of Revenue Investigation. The government on November 1 decided to give Dahal the charge of the DRI, transferring the incumbent DG Jhalakram Adhikari. DRI, which is under the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), has seen a new DG within four months.

Sharma Promoted to Secretary
The government has promoted Keshav Kumar Sharma to the post of Secretary. Along with Sharma, Joint secretaries Ram Aadhar Shah and Bishwa Babu Pudasaini were recommended for promotion to the position of Secretary (Technical). The promotion of Joint Secretary came after the mandatory retirement of the Irrigation Secretary Sagar Kumar Rai on October 24.

Sharma, who entered the government service as an Engineer in the road department in 2052 BS, is working at the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA). He was promoted to Joint Secretary in 2069 BS. Prior to CIAA, he worked at the Foreign Coordination Division of the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport. He also worked as the Director General of the Department of Roads.

Upadhyaya Named CEO of Sanima GIC
Sudyumna Prasad Upadhyaya has been appointed as the CEO of Sanima GIC Insurance Limited which was formed after the merger between Sanima General Insurance Company and General Insurance Company.

Upadhyaya, who was previously CEO of Sanima General Insurance, has 17 years of experience in the insurance sector. He started as Assistant General Manager of Everest Insurance in 2005 and became the CEO of Premier Insurance Company (Nepal) Limited in 2011. In May 2020, he was appointed as the CEO of Sanima General Insurance.
