Sudesh Khaling Assumes Office as CEO of Everest Bank
For the first time since the establishment of Everest Bank Limited in 1994, a Nepali national has been appointed as the bank’s CEO. Banker Sudesh Khaling has formally assumed office on September 24 as the first Nepali CEO of Everest Bank.

Till now, the bank’s CEO used to be appointed by the Punjab National Bank, India which has a 20 percent stake in Everest Bank. Khaling has three decades of experience in Nepal’s banking sector and previously worked as the CEO of Laxmi Bank.

After completing his four-year tenure at Laxmi Bank, Khaling had become the director of Citizens Bank International Limited.

Raj Kumar Chhetri Becomes Acting DG of CAAN
Raj Kumar Chhetri has been appointed as the Acting Director General of the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN), regulator of civil aviation in the country.
Chhetri was given the responsibility on the basis of seniority after Rajan Pokharel resigned from the post of DG, two days before the end of his tenure on September 24.

However, Chhetri will only work as DG of CAAN for the next three months as he will retire from the service in January. Chhetri has more than three decades of experience in the aviation sector and has worked as CAAN’s Spokesperson. Before coming to CAAN IN 2019, he was General Manager of Tribhuvan International Airport.

Mohan Raj Joshi Joins Standard Chartered Bank Nepal
After working for 13 years in Nabil Bank, Mohan Raj Joshi has joined Standard Chartered Bank (Nepal) Limited as Value Center General Manager (VCGM).

At Nabil Bank, Joshi was Head of National Corporate, responsible for overseeing the overall corporate loan portfolio of the bank.
He has more than 13 years of experience in the financing of energy and infrastructure projects. In Standard Chartered, Joshi will look after small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and mid-corporates. Joshi, who did BE in mechanical engineering, has MPhil degree from Kathmandu University and MBA from Sardar Patel University, India.

Chandrasekaran Ramamurthy Becomes CEO of Himalayan RE
The newly established Himalayan Reinsurance Company has appointed Chandrasekaran Ramamurthy as its CEO. Prior to joining Himalayan Re, he was Director of RCS Managing Consultant Pvt. Ltd. that provides consultancy services for insurance and reinsurance companies for reinsurance efficacy and risk management. Ramamurthy has more than four decades-long experience in the Indian domestic and international insurance and reinsurance industry, UK, and the Middle East. He has also worked with the Insurance Development and Regulatory Authority of India (IRDAI) as a member of expert groups.

G Gopalakrishnan Becomes Country Head of Asian Paints Nepal
G Gopalakrishnan has joined Asian Paints Nepal Pvt Ltd as Country Head. Earlier, he was Chief Marketing Manager of Asian Paints Global and looked after the company’s marketing in South East Asia, South Asia, Middle East, and Africa. He has been working at Asian Paints since 1995.

Narayan Prasad Dhakal Appointed DG of DDA 
Narayan Prasad Dhakal has been appointed as the Director General of the Department of Drug Administration (DDA). Earlier, Bharat Bhattarai was DG of DDA. Dhakal has a Bachelor’s degree in pharmacy from Birla Institute of Technology, India.
