Dr. Nepal appointed Economic Advisor to the President
Dr. Chiranjibi Nepal has been appointed as Economic Advisor to President Ram Chandra Paudel. Dr. Nepal is the 16th Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank. Before becoming the governor, he was also the Economic Advisor to the then Prime Minister Sushil Koirala. He is also the former Chairman of the Securities Board Nepal (Sebon). He was involved in the teaching profession for a long time.
Agrawal elected Senior Vice President of CNI
Rajesh Kumar Agrawal has been unanimously elected as the Senior Vice President of the Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI). Earlier, Agrawal served as the Vice President of CNI. As per the statute of the Confederation, Senior Vice President automatically becomes the President. Agrawal will be the new CNI President after the annual general meeting of the confederation to be held next month. He is the Executive Director of RMC Group.
Budhathoki appointed CEO of Green Development Bank
Hari Bahadur Budhathoki has been appointed as the CEO of Green Development Bank Limited. Earlier, he worked as the Acting CEO of the Pokhara-based bank. Budhathoki, who has more than 15 years of experience in the banking sector holds a Master’s degree from Tribhuvan University.
Chhetry named CEO of SALICO
Chunky Chhetry has been appointed as the CEO of Sagarmatha Lumbini Insurance Co. Ltd. (SALICO). Previously, Chhetry was the CEO of Sagarmatha Insurance. He was appointed to the post after the merger between Sagarmatha Insurance Co. Ltd. and Lumbini General Insurance Co. Ltd. Chhetry was the CEO of Sagarmatha Insurance.
He has over two decades of experience in the insurance sector. Chettry, who worked at Oriental Insurance Company and United Insurance Company in the past, is also the President of the Nepal Insurers’ Association, the umbrella organization of the CEOs of non-life insurance companies in Nepal.
Acharya appointed Senior DCEO of SALICO
Barishma Saud Acharya has been appointed as Senior Deputy CEO of Sagarmatha Lumbini Insurance Co. Ltd. (SALICO). Earlier, she was the Deputy CEO of Lumbini General Insurance. Before joining Lumbini General Insurance in March 2022, she was Deputy General Manager of Shikhar Insurance Co. Ltd. Acharya has more than two decades of experience in the Nepali insurance sector.
Shrestha elected President of DBAN
Suyog Shrestha has been unanimously elected as the President of the Development Bankers’ Association Nepal (DBAN). The 17th annual general meeting of DBAN elected Shrestha, who is the CEO of Shangri-la Development Bank, to the post.
Similarly, Bodh Raj Devkota, CEO of Mahalakshmi Bikas Bank, has been elected as Vice President, Ram Kumar Giri, CEO of Sindhu Bikas Bank as Secretary, and Naresh Singh Bohra, CEO of Lumbini Bikas Bank as Treasurer.
Likewise, Prakash Poudel, CEO of Shine Resunga Development Bank, Shreechandra Bhatt, CEO of Jyoti Bikas Bank, and Dr. Indra Kumar Kattel, CEO of Excel Development Bank have been elected Members of DBAN.
Gautam takes charge of UTKHPL as CEO
Mohan Prasad Gautam has been appointed as the CEO of Upper Tamakoshi Hydropower Limited (UTKHPL). Gautam, who is the 11th level (Director) of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) also the Director of Trishuli Jal Vidhyut Company Limited and Jagdulla Hydropower Company Limited. Gautam holds a Master’s degree in engineering from the University of Moscow, Russia, and has over 25 years of experience in the hydropower sector.
He joined NEA in 2003 and worked in various responsibilities at the Upper Tamakoshi Hydroelectric Project and Dudhkoshi Reservoir Hydropower Project. He has also worked as the Managing Director of the Trishuli Jal Vidhyut Company.
Kedia elected Chairman of SRLI
Tara Chand Kedia has been elected as the Chairman of Sanima Reliance Life Insurance (SRLI) Limited. He was elected by the special general meeting (SGM) held on February 24 to approve the merger between Sanima Life Insurance and Reliance Life Insurance. Kedia was the Chairman of the Reliance Life Insurance.
Similarly, Ghanshyam Thapa, Bharat Kumar Todi, and Subarna Das Shrestha have been elected as Directors representing the promoter group while Keshab Raj KC and Parikshit Khemka have been elected as Public Directors. Likewise, Sarita Bhatta Adhikari has been elected as the Independent Director of SRLI.
Pandey appointed CEO of SRLI
Shiva Nath Pandey has been appointed as the CEO of Sanima Reliance Life Insurance Limited (SRLI). Earlier, he was the CEO of Surya Life Insurance (now SuryaJyoti Life Insurance) from February 2017 to November 2020. Two months before joining Surya Life, he retired as Executive Director of the Nepal Rastra Bank after serving for 30 years. Pandey, who is a Chartered Accountant was also the President of the Life Insurers’ Association Nepal.
