Govt appoints Baikuntha Aryal Chief Secretary

Baikuntha Aryal has been appointed as the new Chief Secretary of the government of Nepal. A Cabinet meeting held on June 15 took the decision, the Office of the Prime Minister said. Aryal was serving as the secretary at the Office of the Prime Minister. Aryal was set to retire on June 17 after his five-year tenure as secretary. Aryal had joined the civil service as a section officer in 1992.

Aryal had earlier served as the Secretary of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, and the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supply.

Bairagi appointed advisor to the National Security Council

Incumbent Chief Secretary Shanker Das Bairagi has been appointed as an adviser to the National Security Council. Bairagi, who was to retire from his post after three months, resigned on June 15 to take up the new responsibility.

Before becoming Chief Secretary, Bairagi had assumed the responsibility of foreign secretary on October 11, 2015.

During his three decades of career in foreign service, he held a variety of positions at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Nepali missions abroad. He was the ambassador/permanent representative of Nepal to the United Nations and World Trade Organisation.

Agrawal appointed CEO of Batas MAW Commercial Vehicles

Deepak Agrawal has joined Batas MAW Commercial Vehicles Pvt. Ltd. as CEO. Batas Maw Commercial Vehicles is a joint venture of Batas Organization and MAW Enterprises for sales, service and spare parts of Volvo Eicher Commercial Vehicles in Nepal. Previously, Agrawal was Vice President of Jagdamba Motors. He is regarded as a skilled manager in the corporate and automobile sectors.

Karki elected President of IPPAN

Ganesh Karki has been elected as the President of Independent Energy Producers’ Association Nepal, (IPPAN). Mohan Kumar Dangi has been elected as Senior Vice President of the association for three years, and he will automatically become the President after that as per the amended statute of IPPAN.
Similarly, Ashish Garg, Anand Chaudhary, Bharat Bahadur Khatri, Uttam Bhlon Lama, and Ram Prasad Acharya have been elected Vice Presidents, while Balaram Khatiwada and Prakash Chandra Dulal have been elected General Secretary and Joint General Secretary respectively. Bharat Khadka, Him Prasad Pathak, Bikram Bista, Bharat Nepal, and Kabita Pokharel Kandel have been elected Secretaries of IPPAN. Likewise, Narendra Ballabh Pant has been elected Treasurer.

Silwal joins Jagdamba Motors as National Sales Manager

Kanchan Silwal has Joined Jagdamba Motors Pvt. Ltd. as National Sales Manager. Before, he was Channel Sales Head at MAW Earthmovers Pvt. Ltd. for six years.

Baral appointed Chairman of NEPSE

Bhupal Baral has been appointed as the Chairman of Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) Limited. Baral is the Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Finance and heads the Financial Sector Management and Corporation Coordination Division in the ministry.

Bhattachan elected Chairperson of Prabhu Life

Shikshya Bhattachan has been elected as the Chairperson of Prabhu Life Insurance Limited. Similarly, Sushan Sherchan, Mijas Bhattachan, and Shyam Krishna Shrestha have been elected Directors of the company.

Dhungana appointed DG of DoRI

Nawa Raj Dhungana has been appointed as the Director General of the Department of Revenue Investigation (DoRI). He is a Joint Secretary and was previously positioned at the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO). DoRI is an agency under the PMO. In the past, he has worked at the Office of the Auditor General. He was also the Private Secretary of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal.

Agrawal elected President of CNI

Rajesh Kumar Agrawal has been elected as the President of the Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI). Agrawal, who was earlier the Senior Vice President of CNI, was automatically elected the new President by the 20th annual general meeting as per the statute of the confederation. For over the past 15 years, he has held several positions in CNI including National Council Member, Chairman of the Industry Committee, Chairman of the Revenue Committee, and Coordinator of the Employers’ Council before becoming Vice President in 2017. Agarwal is active in the industrial sector since 1992 and is the Executive Director of RMC Group.

Seven Vice Presidents have been unanimously elected from the elected National Council members. Nirvana Chaudhary, Birendra Raj Pandey, Raj Bahadur Shah, Hem Raj Dhakal, Rohit Gupta, Amit More, and Bhim Ghimire have been elected as Vice Presidents of CNI.
