Raya Appointed as Finance Secretary
Toyam Raya has been appointed as Secretary of Finance. He was working as Secretary of Commerce at the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies. He has replaced Krishna Hari Pushkar who was appointed as Finance Secretary by the then Finance Minister Janardan Sharma. Raya is a cadre of MoF and has experience working in inland revenue and customs administration for many years. In the past, he has also worked at the Ministry of Labor and the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) after he was promoted to government secretary.
Dr. Ghimire Appointed Revenue Secretary
Dr. Ram Prasad Ghimire has been appointed as the Secretary of Revenue. Previously, he worked as the Secretary of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA). Dr. Ghimire is also a cadre of the Ministry of Finance. He started his career in civil service in 1995 as a Finance Officer at the Finance Comptroller General Office (FCGO).
Subedi Appointed Acting CEO of ADBL
Pratap Subedi has been given the responsibility of Acting CEO of the Agricultural Development Bank Limited. He was appointed to the post after the tenure of Anil Upadhyay ended on December 25. Subedi will work as the CEO until further arrangements are made.
Bansal Elected Chairperson of Nepal SBI Bank
Jayati Bansal has been appointed as the Chairperson of Nepal SBI Bank Limited. The meeting of the board of directors of the bank held on November 26 decided to elect Bansal, who represented the State Bank of India (SBI) in the board of Nepal SBI, to the post. Previously, Rajeev Arora was the Chairperson of Nepal SBI.
Bansal is the Chief General Manager of SBI’s lnternational Banking Group at Mumbai and looks after the bank’s overseas strategy, business development, operational efficiency and operations of overseas banking subsidiaries/joint ventures worldwide.
Suryajyoti Life Insurance elects new BOD
Keshab Prasad Bhattarai has been elected as the Chairman of Suryajyoti Life Insurance Co. Limited. Surya Life Insurance and Jyoti Life Insurance commenced joint operations as Suryajyoti Life Insurance on December 22. Bhattarai was the Chairman of Surya Life Insurance.
Meanwhile, Nanda Kishor Sharma, Hemant Nahata and Vivek Jha have been elected as Directors representing the promoter group, while Jayant Kumar Agrawal and Priya Tayal have been elected as Independent Director and Director, respectively. Similarly, Akash Golchha has been nominated as the company’s Advisor and Bharat KC has been appointed as the Company Secretary.
Regmi Joins IME Digital Solutions as CEO
Praveen Regmi has been appointed as the CEO of IME Digital Solutions (IME Pay). Earlier, he was the General Manager of Gateway Payment Service Pvt. Ltd. Regmi, who is a BE degree in Electronics and Communication from Tribhuvan University and MBA from Purbanchal University, has more than 15 years of experience working in the banking and fintech sectors.
He is considered a specialist in the fields of payment systems, banking, technology and telecommunications. Regmi started his career as Project Engineer in STM Telecom and later worked at the digital transaction divisions of NIC Asia and NMB Bank. He was the Head of Digital Transformation at NIC Asia Bank from May 2018-May 2020. He has also worked as Digital Financial Services Consultant for organizations including Rastriya Banijya Bank, Nepal Electronic Payment System (NEPS) and PWC Nepal.
Agrawal Elected Director of SCB (Nepal)
Avinash Agarwal has been elected as the Director of Standard Chartered Bank (Nepal) Limited representing public shareholders on the company’s board. In the 36th annual general meeting of the bank, he was elected to the post by Nepali shareholders who hold 29.79 percent shares in the bank.
Upreti Reappointed CEO of Swarojgar Laghubitta
Manoj Krishna Upreti has been reappointed as the CEO of Swarojgar Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited for another four years. A meeting of the company’s board of directors held on December 16 decided to continue Upreti as the chief executive.
Aryal Appointed Officiating Chairman of Nepal Re
Ishwori Prasad Aryal has been given the responsibility of the Officiating Chairman of Nepal Reinsurance Company. He was appointed to the post according to the ministerial-level decision of November 19.
Prior to this, Aryal was the Director of Nepal Re representing the Ministry of Finance (MoF) on the company’s board. He is the Joint Secretary of the International Financial Assistance Coordination Division of MoF. The post of Chairman in Nepal Re was vacant after Rabindra Ghimire resigned after the dispute related to the Covid-19 insurance claims payment came up.
Pokharel Appointed Acting CEO of Mega Bank
Tulsiram Pokharel has been given the responsibility of Acting CEO of Mega Bank. He is the Senior Deputy General Manager of the bank. His appointment to the post came after Raveena Deshraj Shrestha resigned as Acting CEO of Mega Bank. Pokharel is with Mega Bank since its inception in July 2010. He was with the bank in its pre-operational period and worked for registration, licensing of the proposed bank. After the bank started operating, he became the Assistant General Manager and later got promoted to Deputy General Manager before becoming Senior Deputy General Manager.
Khatri Named CEO of Suryajyoti Life Insurance
Prakash Bikram Khatri has been appointed as the CEO of Suryajyoti Life Insurance. He was earlier the CEO of Jyoti Life Insurance. Similarly, Pawan Kumar Khadka, who was the CEO of Surya Life, has been appointed as the Senior Deputy CEO of the new entity formed after the merger.
