Pandey Appointed Acting CEO of NB Bank 
Bhupendra Pandey has been given the responsibility of Acting CEO of Nepal Bangladesh (NB) Bank. He joined NB Bank as Senior deputy CEO in January after Gyanendra Dhungana retired as CEO of the bank serving for three consecutive terms of 10 years. Earlier, Pandey was Deputy CEO of Nepal infrastructure Bank (NIFRA). Pandey has 20 years of experience in the banking sector. He was with Rastriya Banijya Bank before joining NIFRA in September 2018. He is also a Chartered Accountant.

Giri Appointed CEO of Sindhu Bikas Bank
Ram Kumar Giri has been appointed as CEO of Sindhu Development Bank Limited. Earlier, he worked as Deputy CEO of the bank for a year. Giri has 22 years of experience in the banking sector and has worked at Nepal Bangladesh Bank and Sunrise Bank. He was CEO of Community Development Bank and Deputy CEO of Axel Development Bank.

Pokharel Appointed CEO of Reliance Life Insurance
Rakesh Pokhrel has been appointed as CEO of Reliance Life Insurance Company Limited. A Chartered Accountant by profession, Pokharel is an MA in Economics from Tribhuvan University. He was awarded a Chartered Accountancy degree from the Board of India (ICAI) in 2009 and has worked in three life insurance companies.

In 2010, Pokharel joined Prime Life as Head of the Internal Audit Department and worked in the company for four years. In September 2014, he joined Surya Life as Assistant General Manager (AGM) and was later promoted to Deputy General Manager. In July 2017, he joined IME Life Insurance as General Manager and worked there for six months.

Rawal Appointed CEO of Prudential Life Insurance
Shrawan Kumar Rawal has been appointed as the CEO of Prudential Insurance. He was working as Acting CEO of the company for about three months. Before that, he was the Senior Deputy CEO of the company. Rawal joined Prudential Insurance a few months ago. Before that, he was Deputy CEO of Sagarmatha Insurance.

Shrestha Appointed CEO of Century Capital Markets 
Ramesh Kumar Shrestha has been appointed as CEO of Century Capital Markets Limited. He was earlier the Chief Marketing Officer of Century Commercial Bank. Shrestha holds a Master’s degree in Commerce and has held over 20 years of experience in the banking sector in various capacities at Himalayan Bank, Siddhartha Bank and Century Bank. He is known as an experienced and skilled manager who specializes in operations, management and business promotion.

Sharma Appointed Acting CEO of Machhapuchhre Capital
Govinda Prasad Sharma has been appointed as the Acting CEO of Machhapuchchhre Capital Limited. Sharma, who is Deputy CEO of the company was appointed after Dipesh Kumar Vaidya resigned from CEO. He is regarded for playing a leading role in the establishment of Machhapuchhre Capital and the merger process with Kriti Capital and Investments. He has over two decades of experience in the banking sector Machhapuchhre Bank and other institutions have more than 20 years of experience.

Kunwar Appointed MD of Daraz Nepal 
Aanchal Kunwar has been appointed as Managing Director (MD) of Daraz Nepal. This is the first time the company has given the responsibility of the chief executive to a woman. Kunwar is an MBA from Carlson School of Management and a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Mathematics and Economics from St. Cloud State University, Minnesota. She has 13 years of experience in the corporate sector of the United States and has worked for major companies in travel and e-commerce including Carlson Wagonlit and Amazon. She has helped to establish companies in new markets such as Sweden, Poland, Saudi Arabia and Egypt. Kunwar has replaced Lino Ahlering as MD in Daraz Nepal. Ahlering has been transferred to a regional role at Singapore’s Daraj headquarters. With the appointment of Kunwar, Daraz said it now has local MDs in all operating countries.

Thapa Appointed CEO of Janaki Technologies
Manoj Thapa has been appointed as CEO Janaki Technologies Pvt Ltd. It is for the first time that the information technology company specializing in SMS services has appointed an individual in the post. Earlier, the company’s co-founder and Director Amit Agrawal used to handle the responsibilities of chief executive. Thapa is an MBA from Lovely Professional University, India. He has worked as Marketing Manager of Tilganga Institute of Ophthalmology for three years. Thapa, who has over a decade of experience in the IT sector, also established and operated software development company Bent Ray Technologies and the e-commerce portal Pocket Shop Nepal.

Karki appointed new Nepse CEO
Krishna Bahadur Karki has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE). A Cabinet meeting on January 31 decided to appoint Karki as the Nepse CEO.

Karki, who has a master’s degree in public administration and economics, is said to be well versed in the capital market. He was earlier worked as the Project Coordinator in Budhigandaki Hydropower Project.

The post of Nepse CEO remained vacant after then CEO Chandra Singh Saud resigned on August 24 following a charge of insider trading of the proposed IPO of Sarbottam Cement.

Earlier, the CEO recommendation committee had forwarded three names – Karki, Ramesh Bhandari and Keshav Shrestha – to the Finance Ministry.
