Dhungana Appointed as CEO of Nabil Bank
Gyanendra Prasad Dhungana has been appointed as CEO of Nabil Bank Limited. He will assume his office for a four-year term starting from July 1. Dhungana, who was previously the CEO of Nepal Bangladesh Bank (NBB) Limited for 10 years, has played an important role in NBB’s acquisition by Nabil. He retired from NBB in December. His appointment in Nabil came as the tenure of Nabil’s CEO Anil Keshary Shah is coming to an end in a few days. The merger process has reached the final phase and Nabil and NBB will start integrated transactions following the appointment of Dhungana as the CEO of the unified bank.
Dhungana is an experienced banker who has spent three decades in the banking sector. After completing the Chartered Accountant program in India, he joined Bank of Kathmandu Limited and worked there for 7 years. Then he joined the Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) and spent 10 years there. During that period, he completed his Master’s program in Financial Analysis at the University of New South Wales, Australia. After leaving NRB, he was appointed as the General Manager of Nepal Credit and Commerce Bank. After working there for a year, he joined NBB as the CEO.
Rathi Appointed as Deputy CEO of NIC Asia Bank
Santosh Kumar Rathi has been appointed as the Deputy CEO of NIC Asia Bank Limited. He will assume the post from July 17. Rathi, who joined the then Bank of Asia (now NIC Asia) in November 2007 as the Head of Biratnagar Branch, has previously worked as Head of Biratnagar Provincial Office, Head of Various Ecosystems, and Assistant CEO of the Bank.
He has 20 years of experience in the banking sector and has expertise in strategic areas including overall bank management, risk management, human resources management, business expansion, and diversification. Rathi holds a master’s degree in Commerce.
Rayamajhi Appointed as Deputy CEO of Civil Bank
Sachin Jung Rayamajhi has been appointed as the Deputy CEO of Civil Bank Limited. Earlier, he worked as Chief Credit Officer and Chief Operating Officer of the bank. Rayamajhi, who started his career in banking at Nepal Bangladesh Bank, has over two decades of experience in the sector. He has worked at Nepal Rastra Bank and has worked in a number of commercial banks including NCC Bank, Mega Bank, and Prabhu Bank in various roles and responsibilities. He holds an Associate Degree in Accounting and Finance from CPA Australia.
Subedi Appointed as CEO of Manjushree Bank
Narayan Subedi has been appointed as the CEO of Manjushree Finance Company Limited for four years. He was appointed to the post as the tenure of the company’s CEO Santosh Niroula ended on May 5. Earlier, Subedi was Deputy CEO of Manjushree Finance.
Gurung Re-appointed as CEO of Pokhara Finance
Rabi Chandra Gurung has been re-appointed as the CEO of Pokhara Finance Limited. It is the second tenure of Gurung as the company’s CEO.
Maharjan Appointed as CEO of Nepal Insurance
Bir Krishna Maharjan has been appointed as the CEO of Nepal Insurance Company Limited. Maharjan, who was CEO of Prudential Insurance, had joined Nepal Insurance as Senior Deputy Chief Officer in October 2021. His appointment as the company’s CEO came after the completion of the statutory ‘cooling period’ of 6 months. The post of CEO in Nepal Insurance remained vacant for 11 months.
Sainju Joins Machhapuchhre Capital
Neeraj Man Sainju has been given the responsibility of Acting CEO of Machhapuchchhre Capital Limited. Earlier, he was Head of Bagmati Provincial Office of Machhapuchchhre Bank. Sainju has 19 years of experience in the banking sector. Starting his career at Standard Chartered Bank (Nepal) Limited as Home Banking Teller in 2003, Sainju has worked in Laxmi Bank, NMB Bank and Machhapuchchhre Bank. He has expertise in areas including treasury management, private equity, venture financing and portfolio management services.
Shivakoti and Acharya Appointed as a Directors of Nepal Rastra Bank
The government has appointed Chintamani Shivakoti and Dr. Shankar Prasad Acharya as Directors of Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB). Shivakoti is the former Deputy Governor of NRB and Acharya is the former Executive Director of NRB. The posts of two directors on the Board of NRB were vacant after the tenure of Dr. Shree Ram Poudel and Ramji Regmi ended last month.
Thapa Appointed as Chief Technology Officer of Fonepay
Subash Thapa has been appointed as Chief Technology Officer of Fonepay Payment Services Limited. Earlier, he was Head of Product and System Development at Nepal Clearing House Limited (NCHL). He joined NCHL as System Analyst in April 2013. Thapa, who has nearly a decade of experience in the fintech sector, also played a crucial role in the implementation of the National Payment Switch (NPS) project of NCHL.
Thapa holds a Master’s Degree in Computer Applications and has also completed the Cambridge FinTech and Regulatory Innovation program accredited by Cambridge University’s Cambridge Center for Alternative Finance.
Giri Joins Surya Life Insurance
Meghendra Prakash Giri has joined Surya Life Insurance Co. Limited as Head of Brand- Digital Marketing and Public Affairs. Previously, he was Head of Communications and Media Relations at Nepal Life Insurance Co. Limited. Giri has two decades of experience in the areas of media and branding. Starting his career in marketing and branding from Young Herald magazine in 2000, he has worked in Nepal Tobacco Company Pvt. Ltd, Asian Paints, Kantipur Television and NIC Asia in the past. Giri is an MBA and also holds a Master’s Degree in Economics.
